We see emergency patients the same day
Toothache, broken or knocked-out tooth, swelling, a lost crown that hurts: call us as early in the day as you can and we will do everything possible to see you that day. Because our specialists work in-house, most emergencies can be diagnosed and treated in one visit instead of ending with a referral and another week of pain.
While you're on your way
- Knocked-out tooth: handle it by the crown, not the root. If clean, gently place it back in the socket; otherwise keep it in milk and come in immediately. The first hour matters most.
- Pain or swelling: a cold compress on the cheek and over-the-counter pain relief taken as directed can help. Never place aspirin directly on the gums.
- Swelling that affects breathing or swallowing, or fever with facial swelling: go to the emergency room first.

Can I really be seen the same day?
Yes. We reserve time in the schedule each day for urgent problems. Call (520) 293-9277 as early in the day as you can and we will find you a spot.
Who will treat my emergency?
You will be seen by Dr. Payam Asadi. For emergencies involving the root of the tooth, our in-house endodontist, Dr. Ron Malakpour, is sometimes the one to treat you. Most emergencies, from root canals to extractions, are handled here without a referral to another office.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe or persistent tooth pain, a knocked-out or broken tooth, facial swelling, an abscess, uncontrolled bleeding, or a lost crown or filling that leaves the tooth painful. If you are unsure, call us and we will help you decide.
What will an emergency visit cost?
We verify your insurance first and give you the cost in writing before any treatment. Monthly payment plans are available through our Payments page.
