How the process works
First we examine the tooth and confirm a crown is actually what it needs; sometimes a smaller repair will do, and we'll tell you when it will. The tooth is then shaped under local anesthetic, we capture precise 3D impressions with our iTero digital scanner rather than the goopy trays you may remember, and your permanent crown is crafted to match the shade and shape of the teeth around it. Bridges: filling the gap
A missing tooth is more than a cosmetic issue. Neighboring teeth drift into the space and your bite slowly shifts. A bridge closes that gap by anchoring a replacement tooth to crowns on either side. For many patients a dental implant is worth comparing too, since it replaces the tooth without involving its neighbors, and we'll walk you through both options honestly.
Caring for your crown
Crowns don't get cavities, but the tooth underneath still can, right at the edge where crown meets tooth. Normal brushing, flossing, and regular checkups are all it takes to protect your investment, and with good home care a well-made crown commonly serves for a decade or more.

Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is fully numbed with local anesthetic, so the visit itself is comfortable. Some tenderness afterward is normal and passes quickly. If dental anxiety is the bigger hurdle, sedation options are available.
How long does a crown last?
With normal brushing, flossing, and regular checkups, a well-made crown commonly lasts ten years or more. The tooth under the crown can still decay at the margins, which is why home care and checkups matter.
Should I get a bridge or an implant for a missing tooth?
It depends on the health of the neighboring teeth, your bone, your timeline, and your budget. A bridge uses the neighboring teeth for support; an implant stands on its own. We'll examine you and lay out both options honestly so you can decide.
What if my tooth needs a root canal before the crown?
